This week’s small pleasures: episode 24

So here we are again with a round up of this week’s small pleasures.  Thanks to Mani over at A New Life Wandering for starting this idea.

Sunday breakfast

Sunday breakfast this week was beer and barley sourdough bread from Pandoro ( a dense, chewy loaf made with pilsner from Black Dog Brew Co) and Fix and Fogg peanut butter.

Good bread, good peanut butter

Flowers

I found these gorgeous iris and double daffodils and couldn’t resist buying both.

Cooking

Whether it was just rustling up a quick chicken, bacon and mushroom based sauce for pasta, roasting pieces of salmon or making pork and fennel meatballs in a puttenesca sauce, (recipe here) I’ve enjoyed being in the kitchen this week.

A new sweater

The softest, dark grey cashmere sweater, bought in the sale at LuluLemon.

So cosy

Cat watching

I spotted Charlie sitting in the neighbours’ garden this afternoon, having a sort of stand-off with Bodie, their cat, with the latter backing off despite being on his own territory.  Bodie headed over our way, ducking under the house and appearing further along the decking.  Meanwhile, Charlie came running back to ours and hid under one of our terrace chairs, keeping an eye on Bodie the whole time.  Poor Bodie had no idea he was being watched, and as he came running past on his way home, Charlie jumped out and gave him a fright and chased him.  Charlie is half the size of Bodie, but has twice the courage.

Progress

Finally, my shoulder is improving, my neck seems to be fixed, and I had another quiet weekend to sit and read and switch off before a busy week ahead.

  1. I loved these!! From that first photo I was like wow what a beautiful flower.
That bread sounds great. And new soft cashmere sweater?? Jealous! Nothing like a soft cozy cashmere sweater. And cats are always fun. Have a wonderful new week.
