In all honesty, I struggled a bit this week to find some small pleasures. It was just one of those weeks – bad weather, the cancellation of a foodie event and the Royal New Zealand Ballet’s Venus Rising programme due to Level 2 restrictions, and feeling a bit under the weather. But as usual, there were things to bring a smile and to remind us of the good things that are around us.
It is the last day of August, and as the calendar ticks over tomorrow to the 1st September, we properly see us enter spring.

Here we are almost at the end of July already, and, bit by bit, the mornings are definitely getting brighter. We have had several days of bright, winter sun, and it looks like a few more days to come as well, which of course always lifts the spirits and gladdens the heart. So without further ado, here are some of this week’s small pleasures

I feel I should celebrate in some way, or at least mark the occasion, but rather than go over old posts looking for highlights, I am just going to do my usual and do the normal weekly roundup.
