I don’t know about you, but I find it hard to believe we are half way through the year already. … More
In a week that saw Wellington go back up to Covid Alert Level 2 (extended on Sunday for another 48 hours), closure of the Trans Tasman bubble for a few days, and lots of rain, it has been even more important to think about the small pleasures in life.
Oh what a miserable, grey and wet day it is here! Not a day to be out and gardening, or even taking photos for the blog. At least we heard there were no more community cases of Covid-19 after last week’s scare. Keep you fingers crossed for us that it stays like that!
A man flew from Sydney to Wellington on Friday evening, local time. He went to his hotel, enjoyed breakfast at a cafe in town, lunch at another one, visited exhibitions, went shopping, enjoyed a drink in a bar. After returning to Sydney on Monday morning, he went for a Covid-19 test which returned positive (he had had his first dose of vaccine).

ng coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would be sitting on this lovely winter’s day, we would be enjoying some Earl Grey tea and a piece of cake I made this morning. I would tell you I saw the first narcissus underneath the gingko tree in the Botanic Gardens this morning. You smile.
Whenever I start writing a small pleasures post, I start with looking at what photos I have taken during the week. Sometimes they inspire, sometimes there isn’t a lot to report. This week there were lots of small pleasures, including three days of holiday.
As we approach the shortest day, the weather remains mild here, with day time temperatures up to 16 or 17C, with nights around 12C. With the odd bits of rain as well, things continue to grow well out there. I’ve been able to get out and tidy a bit, but with so many pots now on the terrace, reaching the ones at the back (sorry curry plant and thyme). I really need a reorganisation somehow!
