The three days of Christmas…

I’m sitting here on Boxing Day evening, having returned from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, enjoyed some leftovers for dinner and watched this year’s Gavin and Stacey Christmas Special. * The three days of Christmas are drawing to a close for us here…so here is a quick round up.

It doesn’t get dark here until 9pm, so the lights are only on our Christmas tree for a short while each evening. Our tree as it was this year is the featured image at the top of the page, with its usual mix of old favourites and new decorations.

We celebrate Christmas Eve with Swedish food as regular readers will know…Janssons Frestelse, meatballs, sausages, ham, potatoes, herring, good bread and all the trimmings. We kind of mix it up by adding crackers and, of course, have seasonal strawberries as part of dessert. Presents are opened before going to bed as is tradition.

Getting ready for Christmas Eve feasting
God Jul!

Christmas Day morning began with us opening our stockings (so many good things this year, some Santa brought me from Sweden…) before we headed to friends for dinner. Note the giant ham below, and the special seasonal treat of mince pies and proper Christmas cake.

On Boxing Day, I Skyped family in Washington DC who were yet to have Christmas dinner, the time difference is that great. We then headed to the cinema to see, as mentioned above, the last of the Star Wars films, it being a kind of tradition to go to the cinema on Boxing Day. On getting home, the sun was out, so we made the most of it with a pre-dinner drink outside. What did you do for Christmas?
