A day in the life: Wednesday ramblings

Today, Wednesday, I took the day off work, as I was due some time and it seemed like a good day to do so, giving me an opportunity to do some Christmas shopping and to be at home when Karl arrived back from Europe. There was no need to get up early, but Charlie was up and about and almost seemed anxious that I didn’t want to get up at 6am…or maybe he just wanted more food? Anyway, I managed to still make it a slow start to the day, with toast and tea taken back to bed for breakfast.

Tea and toast to start the day

I headed off into town, picking up (another) striped top in Wilson Trollope, popped into the Japanese shop, Daiso, for some stocking fillers and little bowls (see picture below), returned some empty peanut butter jars to Fix and Fogg, browsed a lovely second hand clothes shop and then went for lunch at Prefab, a real Wellington institution. It is normally extremely busy, but I got there early enough to get a seat and enjoy some snapper with asparagus and polenta fries, and a glass of fizz. I then headed to College Street for a browse, and picked up some of my favourite fig scented hand cream and some Swedish made body lotion from Citta. Apologies for the formatting of some of the photographs….no amount of tweaking, trimming and tidying up seemed to help.

After a short stop for a few food items at Moore Wilson’s, I headed home for a short rest and some reading before Karl arrived, earlier than expected. This was a very welcome bonus! I made a hot smoked salmon and courgette tart for dinner (recipe idea from Sophie Hansen’s A Basket By The Door) with a large salad, before catching up on all our favourite series while sitting on the sofa with coffee, raspberries and blueberries. A great day all round.
