Six on Saturday 10.08.19

I’m writing this post listening to thunder and watching the rain…so it is just as well I managed to take a couple of pictures yesterday for this post. Anyway, here are my Six on Saturday and thanks once again to The Propagator for allowing us to share what is going on in our gardens.

So first up…the weather…with warm temperatures for part of the week, and then a grey rainy day today, we’ve pretty much had it all. The camellias are still doing fine, looking good in rain or shine. There are still quite a few buds too.

Due to the rain, instead of being out there tidying up, I have just ordered a bunch of seeds. The choices made, and how they do, will of course feature here.

Flowers in the rain

Third up, the anemones are blossoming, with a few purple blooms showing their heads. They are quite stunning when you look closely.

At number four, aren’t these looking gorgeous? I don’t think words are needed. Oh and please ignore the state of the lemon balm at the back!

Daffodil season

Otherwise, the tarragon is showing new signs of life, the bee balm is growing nicely and I still have a decent amount of parsley to keep me going. The three basil plants I brought in for winter are not looking spectacular, but are still alive and once the warmer weather comes they should perk up back outside again I hope.

Finally, spotted this on Thursday…..you may, or may not, agree…

Indeed…..

So that’s it from me. A bit truncated this week due to weather and attending Beervana, the beer festival earlier this afternoon. However, I am of course, looking forward to seeing everyone’s beautiful gardens in other parts of the world.

  1. My basil in my kitchen looks like yours even if we are still in summer … beautiful flower of anemone! I should add some blue in my garden to get the French flag

  2. Oh dear! The weather is pretty violent at your side of the world too. We have had thunderstorms, lightening, torrential rain and now gales today. Nice Six, as usual. I was looking forward to politely correcting Mr Propagator but you got there first?

    1. Yes we had quite a wee storm last night and I can see parts of the UK got a battering as well. I think sometimes those automatic spelling correcting ‘things’ do more harm than good 🙂

  3. The anemone is stunning! And your basil is looking better than mine. I keep mine indoors, but it has been covered in aphids this year. At least it keeps them off the tomatoes…

  4. Oh the narcissus! Just beautiful. Very few of them have made an appearance in my garden yet.

  5. All your flowers look so pretty. I especially love that anemone, all the darker stripes in the petals. As to weeding, it’s always good not to be too critical of how fastidious you are. As to me, I’m always ve-e-e-e-e-e-e-ry gentle w/myself about garden tasks. 😉
