I’m about to enter a very busy period, with a mix of work trips, the New Zealand Film Festival and Wellington on a Plate. So it is even more important to stop, breathe, and reflect on the small pleasures of the week.
First up, the mornings are definitely getting brighter, and I took time to enjoy the camellias in the Botanic Gardens on my way to work. I have also been playing a bit with the camera on my new phone, hence the ‘walk to work’ picture below!
My favourite cafe, Squirrel, has a new toast with smoked salmon and other goodies. I had to try this out on Saturday morning and can confirm that it tastes as good as it looks.
As you know, rugby is the national sport of New Zealand. Current world champions (let’s see what happens in the World Cup later this year….), the All Blacks are a great team to watch play. We went to see them against South Africa on Saturday evening, with the outcome was a draw. I have to say that I have seen the All Blacks play better. Anyway, it was a great atmosphere and something fun to do for a change.
I made some preserved lemons from some fruit brought in by a colleague at work (a real small pleasure), managed to read a bit and catch up on some podcasts, and spotted these mushrooms opposite parliament walking to work one day.
Finally, Charlie…a wee ball of fluff who always delights (even when he purrs in my face at 4am).
And that’s it for this week. What were your small pleasures?
Thanks to Mani over at A New Life Wandering for the original idea.
