If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…or would you like a hot chocolate on this winter day? At least the rain has stopped.
If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…I would tell you how much I enjoyed having a week off from work. How it was lovely to have the time to make red cabbage pickle, bake a cake, and watch far too many food related videos on YouTube. The weeks to come are going to be busy, so these days have also been a chance to recharge and reset.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea …we would of course talk about the weather. How so far this winter it has not been bad, though the rain on Wednesday and this morning…well! That was a different story.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would have a look at the programme for the New Zealand International Film Festival. I would tell you I have bought some tickets already, but due to a work trip and other things in our diaries, we aren’t going to all the ones we picked. A pity, but that is life. You say you still need a proper look at the listings.

If we were having coffee, or even a cup of tea… I would tell you that the jigsaw I started has been so distracting, and that as a result I haven’t done as much reading as I had hoped or gone back to transcribing my great grandfather’s letters. You laugh and say well, you were on holiday.
If we were having coffee, or even a cup of tea… I would say, why don’t you stay for dinner? You can try some of the red cabbage, with some pork fillet, mashed root vegetables and cavolo nero. You say yes, that sounds lovely, perfect winter food, and we open a bottle of pinot noir.
You can find Thistles and Kiwis on Facebook, and also on Instagram@thistleandkiwis. As for Twitter….am totally inactive these days. If you want to get in touch, email me on thistlesandkiwis@gmail.com
I’d love to drop in for a chat and cup of coffee – and that dinner sounds just perfect! Maybe one day when I visit New Zealand!

I, too, would love to drop in but for a cup of tea rather than coffee. We share many of the same interests. In a small city not far from where we live, there is the Maine International Film Festival, which will be starting in a week. My husband, daughter, and I will be going. Also, thought you might like to know that through interlibrary loan, I requested “The Thick of It.” The DVD is waiting for us at the library, and we will be starting the series soon.
