This week’s small pleasures #137

It’s Monday evening, on a day that started cold and wet and ended warm and sunny. That is autumn for you! Anyway, it was a busy week with a trip to Hamilton (again), things going on and little time for a lot of down time until the weekend. There was still time to enjoy some small pleasures, because it is important to make time for these during our busy lives.

First up, the flights both up and down to Hamilton were lovely, with some fantastic views. In the centre of the picture below, you can see Mount Ruapehu. Flying back up, the view was even better, but the picture I took from the plane window was not so good. I actually wished I had been on the other side of the aircraft to see the setting sun behind Mount Taranaki. Next time!

In complete contrast to gazing out at clouds and volcanos, on Friday night we went to see The Proclaimers in concert. It was a great evening (fish and chips beforehand), and I confess to singing along to Sunshine on Leith and some of the other well known songs. If you don’t know them, they hail from Fife in Scotland and have been making music for many a year.

Next…this week’s toast sensation at Squirrel café. Sourdough toast, topped with fresh tomatoes, a little mozzarella and pea shoots. So perfect, so fresh, and another good toast from this new favourite for a Saturday morning.

On Sunday afternoon I finally got around to trying this green tea with feijoa, apple and rose. It was a lovely refreshing afternoon tea for a wet afternoon spent curled up on the sofa.

Finally, spotted on the steps up to the house, these little beauties, peeping through the fence.

A little splash of colour

And that’s it for this week. What were your small pleasures of the past week?

Thanks to Mani over at A New Life Wandering for the original idea.
