Can you believe that Friday of this week is the 1st March? I know…anyway, let’s look back on the those little things that brought pleasure this past week.
First up, I did a fair bit of cooking over the weekend – something I really enjoy when I have time. I like to browse cook books and magazines on a Friday evening and make a shopping list for the week to come. On Saturday, I baked a cake from Julia Turshen’s Now & Again, which I will come back to in Wednesday’s post, and made the beef and courgettes meatballs with tahini dressing (so good!) again. Sunday’s dinner was Turshen’s take on baked pasta, based around turkey mince, spinach and mozzarella, which I served with a rocket, lemon, pine nuts and pecorino salad.
On Sunday morning, we went to see Stan and Ollie which we loved, going for lunch after, and still having time for a massive pile of ironing (not a pleasure!) and reading. If you are a fan, you will know what I mean when I say I was in a Barbara Pym mood, and enjoyed An Unsuitable Attachment over the weekend.
And that’s it for this week. What were your small pleasures of the past week?
Footnote: glad to see Olivia Colman win an Oscar, though I wasn’t keen on ‘The Favourite’ and also happy to see ‘Green Book’ win Best Picture.
Thanks to Mani over at A New Life Wandering for the original idea.
