Here we are again, Monday evening and time to reflect on the small pleasures of the week just past. It is spring, as you can see from the pictures, but there were snow falls in parts of the country, and not every day has seen blue skies. Nevertheless, spring is here!
On Sunday, we drove over to Greytown in the Wairarapa, New Zealand’s Most Beautiful Small Town of 2017, and justly deserved. We haven’t been there since February, so it was nice to go back. Greytown was New Zealand’s first planned inland town, and was established in 1854 by settlers from Wellington, looking for areas to farm. There are lots of interesting buildings, small shops and several cafes and restaurants.
We stopped off in Martinborough for a bottle of wine to have with Sunday dinner, before driving home. Dinner was Vincisgrassi (a lasagne with mushrooms, ham and oodles of Parmesan) from Diana Henry’s How to Eat A Peach, though I did not make my own pasta!
