This week’s small pleasures # 55

If you’ve read my last few blog posts, you will know I’ve been on holiday in Fiji for a week.  We are now back in Wellington…leaving 30C sunshine for 13C grey skies.  Oh well, this week was full of many small pleasures (check out The day we went to a desert island for example).

Our hotel – we stayed at the Sheraton in Denarau. I’ll miss papaya, passion fruit and pineapple at breakfast!

Cold drinks, good food

We naturally sampled local beer, such as Vonu pictured below.  I had some delicious crab ravioli at Lulu’s down at Denarau Marina one night, and on Karl’s birthday had mahi mahi with green beans, fennel, coconut rice and lolo sauce, a Fijian coconut cream based sauce. That night, Karl had the Fijian chicken curry, which I luckily got a taste of – gosh was it good!

Evenings

There were some glorious evenings, as you can see below, and on our final night we returned to the Flying Fish and dined on the beach front.  I had snapper with hazelnut, crushed potatoes, local greens and caper butter sauce.  Absolutely delicious.

It’s back to work on Monday – a week in paradise at an end.  Guess I’ll start counting the days until the next holiday…..

Thanks to Mani over at A New Life Wandering for the original idea. Check out other small pleasures at My Tiny Obsessions and Middle Europe.
