If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea, I would tell you how nice it was to have an old friend from Scotland visit.  We took him wine tasting over in Martinborough, ate out at our local Italian place Cosa Nostra and went for a steak at El Matador.  Our guest  visited Parliament, Te Papa and the Museum of Wellington. Karl took him for a drive round to Scorching Bay and up Mount Victoria and on Tuesday, I took the afternoon off work and we had a wander around bits of Wellington city.   We started with lunch at Egmont Street Eatery where I had a ‘fish finger’ (not your usual frozen variety – a good mix of different fish) bun with akame gribiche* and watercress and my guest the smoked beef, provolone, pickled cabbage, rocket, mustard mayonnaise sandwich. The food was excellent and a good start to the afternoon. From there we browsed shops, walked up Eva Street stopping at Leeds Street Bakery and the Wellington Chocolate Factory (Fix and Fogg have moved to bigger premises, but still open their window from Wednesday to Saturday from 11:00am to 3:00pm).  From there walked up Cuba Street, stopped for refreshment at Floriditas before taking a look at the Embassy Cinema and buying some food for dinner at Moore Wilson’s.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea,  we would talk about the World of Wearable Art and how much we had enjoyed it.  We sit with the programme talking about our favourite designs and then discuss the side competition for local retail businesses to decorate their shop fronts with a WOW themed window.  I particularly like the entry from Small Acorns, a dress made from wallpaper and broken china.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea I would tell you that I have booked to restart Xtend Barre classes on Monday and hope my shoulder doesn’t play up.

If we were having coffee or even a cup of tea…wait…it’s time for a glass of wine says Charlie.
